The weekend of Jan 8-10 saw three Cranston Chess Club members participate in the 2016 Boston Chess Congress held at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor Hotel. Mark Neale, Frank Vogel and Richard Dusza all played in the U1900 section of the tournament. The tournament was very successful by organizer standards as 252 players in 6 sections came to do battle in the chess wars. Mark, Frank and Richard scored 3.5, 2.0 and 1.5 points respectively. All three members enjoyed the excellent playing conditions at the hotel. The picture below is taken from the first
floor cafe that overlooks Boston Harbor. The hotel has 15 floors and provides great views of the harbor and airport. The glass elevator is another nice touch that lets you view the outdoor scenery as you go about your business. Cranston CC members should try and play at large tournaments on occasion as it adds a different perspective to your chess experience. Good chess! - Frank Vogel
