September 29 - Chess Movie Night?

We will NOT have our normal CCC on Tuesday September 29.  Instead, Frank is trying to organize a Movie Night to see Pawn Sacrifice that evening.  I'll update this blog post when the theater and show time has been selected.

Update:  Frank will be meeting some of the other club members at the Providence Place Mall, in the food court near Subway between 6:15 and 6:30 pm on Tuesday September 29 for the 6:55 show time.

2015 Cranston Chess Club Championship to begin!

The 2015 Club Championship is slated to begin this upcoming week. (Tuesday January 6 will be the first round)  The club officers are still debating the final format to be used for the tournament.    Either a 6 round or 8 round swiss style tournament will be used.  To be eligible to play in the club championship, players must have played in a minimum of 8 rated club games in the previous year.  (A full point bye in a tournament still counts as a game for these purposes)  Following the completion of the championship, the Annual Club Meeting will be  held in February or March to elect club officers, make any proposed changes to the By-Laws and conduct other business as necessary.  To all of the participants in the Club Championship - Good Chess and have a happy and blessed 2015!    Frank Vogel, Club President
